Defining the Segment - 2010 Audi TTS coupe/roadster
The Audi TTS continues to define the sports coupe and convertible segments. Bold, aggressive styling sends a clear message of performance and dynamic handling, while a turbocharged engine delivers class-leading power and efficiency. Inside, occupants are treated to an interior built with the same high quality materials found in the A8 flagship. For 2010, the TTS boasts a higher horsepower version of the 2.0 TFSI engine along with a sharper suspension system.
The TTS is the highest performing TT ever brought to market. It is a genuine sports car, with a remarkable driving experience and striking design elements. TTS represents the Audi ethos through advanced technology, high performance, high efficiency and sporty design. TTS embodies performance through innovation, passion through intelligence.
Building on the innovations of the TT, TTS is the top model in the TT family, delivering performance through the most powerful engine in the line-up and superior traction and control through standard quattro all-wheel drive and TTS specific Audi magnetic ride. The TTS engine is combined with a customized quattro AWD system that helps the TTS accelerate to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, a full second faster than the TT. Advanced technology such as turbocharging and direct-injection helps the 2.0 TFSI to maintain respectable fuel economy. Both the TTS Coupe and TTS Roadster deliver the same fuel economy as the regular TT.
The Audi TTS is equipped with an advanced Audi S tronic dual-clutch transmission. Gear changes from the advanced unit happen in just 0.2 seconds, resulting in a near uninterrupted transfer of power to the quattro all-wheel drive system. The driver may manually choose gears via precise-actuating paddle shifters, or by the
console-mounted shifter.
The TTS rides on the same high tech aluminum/steel Audi Space Frame (ASF) that all TT models are built. This allows the sports car to be both larger and lighter than the previous model, while also increasing torsional rigidity. In fact, ASF allows the TTS Roadster to be even more rigid than the previous generation coupe; the Roadster has 58% aluminum / 42% steel and is 120% more rigid than its predecessor and 188 lbs. lighter; the Coupe has 69% aluminum / 31% steel and is 50% more rigid than its predecessor, and 166 lbs. lighter.
