Chandler, Arizona is a prominent suburb of Phoenix. The city has been honored 9 times as a "Playful City USA" for its many parks, recreation centers, and aquatic centers. The Chandler Community Service Department oversees the community center, senior center, several parks, two recreation centers, and six aquatic centers. The department also publishes Break Time, a free quarterly recreation magazine for residents. The city is also recognized for its strong youth programs, and has placed in the 100 Best Communities for Young People several times.

The city also hosts a few festivals and events throughout the year, with the most well known being the Ostrich Festival, held in Tumbleweed Park annually. The Ostrich Festival celebrates the many ostrich farms that used to be in Chandler, as well as its once booming agricultural industry. The Fourth of July Fireworks Festival and the Day of Play are both hosted in Tumbleweed Park, as well.

Intel is the largest employer in the city, with four locations in the municipal area. One of these locations is Intel's first environmentally sustainable factory that adheres to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards. A few colleges and universities are in the city, Western International University, Chandler-Gilbert Community College, and Ottawa University.
